Salmon oil can be given to your dog on a long-term and daily basis or as a cure, for example during your four-legged friend's coat change. You can also give salmon oil to your puppy. Simply mix it with your dog's daily meal to make it easier for them to digest.
The correct dosage depends on various factors, including size, weight, age, breed and individual needs. As a guideline, 2 ml of salmon oil per 10 kg of body weight per day is sufficient. However, a quantity of 10 ml per day (approx. two teaspoons) should not be exceeded.
Note: Salmon oil is very high in calories, so you should not overdose it to prevent your dog from gaining weight. Discuss the exact dosage with your vet. This is especially important if your dog is already ill.
Although salmon oil is generally very well tolerated by dogs, side effects such as gastrointestinal complaints, vomiting or diarrhea can occur in rare cases. If your furry friend shows similar symptoms, reduce the amount or remove the product from their diet. If the symptoms persist, be sure to speak to your vet and keep the product for later use if necessary.
