When is dog food species-appropriate?

A species-appropriate diet is based on nature and the diet of the wolf, the ancestor of the dog. He feeds on prey animals, so a lot of fresh muscle meat as well as offal. In addition, some herbs, grasses and berries, which were in the stomach of the prey animals. Species-appropriate dog food therefore contains not only meat, but also vegetables, fruits, herbs and vegetable oils.

What makes good dog food?

Not all dogs are the same. Therefore, good food is adapted to the individual needs of your four-legged friend and takes into account his age, activity level and intolerances. The composition should cover all important nutrients and vitamins.
Pay attention to a high meat content. Equally important are ingredients from fruits and vegetables, which provide valuable nutrients and vitamins. Flavor enhancers, preservatives & Co. have no place in dog food.

How do I calculate the right amount of food for my dog?

The amount of food depends on the ideal weight of the dog. If you can feel the ribs without exerting pressure, but cannot see them, your dog is at the ideal weight. Recommended for wet BARFing is a total feed amount of about 2 - 4% of the dog's body mass. For wet and dry food, you can roughly follow the manufacturer's instructions. The right amount of food also depends on how active your dog is, how old he is and whether he has any intolerances.
