Everything you need to know about wet food

Veterinarian Gesa Neudecker recommends:

Good wet food consists of high-quality ingredients that provide your dog with the necessary nutrients.

  • The meat content should be around 70 percent.
  • In addition, there should be 20 percent fruit and vegetables.
  • In addition, 10 percent herbs and oils should be included.

Complete food vs. supplementary food: This is the difference

A complete food provides your dog with all the nutrients it needs - proteins, fats, carbohydrates, fibers, minerals and vitamins - and gives it the energy it needs. This is not the case with a supplementary food, which must be supplemented with other components to meet the dog's daily needs. You can find out how to make a balanced menu out of a supplementary food here.

How much wet food does a dog need?

The amount of food depends on the dog's ideal weight. If you can feel the ribs without putting pressure on them, but you can't see them, your dog is at the ideal weight. Recommended for wet BARFing is a total feed amount of about 2 - 4% of the dog's body mass. For wet and dry food, you can roughly orient yourself to the manufacturer's instructions. We have indicated feeding recommendations for you on our Fleischeslust products. The right amount of food also depends on the age, breed, activity level and health of your dog.
